DFCC Mobile Clinic and the future of Guerrilla medicine
DRopfast Collective CLinic or “DFCC”
A majority of the countries that we operate in are not friendly to small NGOs, making it extremely difficult to help those who are forgotten. Even with prior government authorization our clinic can be shutdown and run off by corrupt police or individuals looking for a bribe. It is up to our advisers to operate quietly and learn the gray line of legality. With their help we may continue our work without losing a majority of our funding to unnecessary expenses
What is “Guerrilla Medicine” and why do we use the term?
“Guerrilla Medicine” is a relatively new term, originally used to describe medics that go into combat areas and provide healthcare to those affected by conflict. Usually in reference to Ukraine.
But the base concept has two meanings. We at DFC focus on the second.
Guerrilla -
a member of a small independent group taking part in irregular fighting, typically against larger regular forces.
referring to actions or activities performed in an impromptu way, often without authorization.
